“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.” – Ephesians 5:8
Ephesians 5 continues saying, “Walk as children of light . . . for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”
How often do you sin? The answer for me: too often. In fact, sometimes I feel like I’m a never-ending tale of selfish error. And like Adam and Eve in the garden, my first instinct is to run and hide from my sins. I avoid God at all costs.
Though I’m sure most of us hate making mistakes and facing humiliation, I also know that if we’re willing to come out of hiding, we will receive good gifts from God.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17-18
Maybe your best gift this year will be to have a pure heart and clear conscience. Past the embarrassment of repentance is beauty in true life . . . in daylight. No longer hidden in the shadows of darkness, you can “‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”
When Christ shines on us, nothing can stop His eternal light! Awake and arise beautiful daughter of Christ. It’s time to shine from the inside-out.
