Burn to Memory Matthew 6:6

Matthew 6:6

“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Who am I in secret? Behind the closed door? Am I someone who gets up early to pray, to seek the Lord first, because He alone sustains me? (Sometimes.) Am I someone who dreams crazy dreams and thinks she has an extra hour because she hit snooze too many times? (This week, yes.)

I need the secret place. I need  time with my Maker with no agenda. Jesus tells us to shut the door for a reason: Distractions abound. (And he lived in what we’d consider a ‘simple’ time.) Laziness allures. But the call of my Savior is too sweet to ignore. Let’s shut the door this week. Let’s not give God our spare minutes. Let’s give Him the ones that cost us. He sees what is done in secret, and He rewards us with Himself.

Burn to Memory is our special section focused on Scripture to memorize. Pin it, print it or make it your smartphone wallpaper. Why is memorizing Scripture so important? What’s in your heart comes out at the moments when it is needed. (And if what’s in there isn’t good, it’ll come out even when you don’t want it to!)

  1. Love it! I’ve been thinking about how we should be honoring God with our time in the same way we honor Him with our money. He will always bless the leftovers! 🙂
