Burn to Memory Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2

I’m meditating on Romans 12:2 this week. It’s my smartphone background, and I’m trying to make myself stop and really soak it up each time I open my phone. My mind needs renewing. I’ve felt distracted lately. Things are vying for my attention.

Do you ever wonder about God’s will in a day-in-time kind of way? Not the big picture “What does God want me to do on the planet” question but instead  “How do I live your will for this very day?” Sometimes I find myself at 10:30 p.m. (because, yes, that’s when I go to bed) thinking I didn’t do anything for the Lord all day. He gently reminds me that He’s not after what I will do for Him but rather what I will do with Him.

We have to break the patterns that snatch our minds from our hearts and realign the pair back towards His gentle calling. From that angle, from that intent gaze, we find the will of God not as far off but as a moment-by-moment discovery. What is His will – good, pleasing and perfect – for the rest of today?

Burn to Memory is our special section focused on Scripture to memorize. Pin it, print it or make it your smartphone wallpaper. Why is memorizing Scripture so important? What’s in your heart comes out at the moments when it is needed. (And if what’s in there isn’t good, it’ll come out even when you don’t want it to!)
