Burn to Memory John 1:4-5

Happy December! I’ve started the Christmas tunes. My tree is settling before decorating. (Note: If you buy a real tree, it must always settle for a few days before you decorate it. I know this from experience… The ornaments will weigh down the branches and then get stiff like that, making it look like all your ornaments are dragging down the branches and are about to slide off!)

In my heart, I’m soaking up the peace this season is supposed to bring. The chaos we associate with December and with Christmas are so far from the peace and glory of all that God did for us when He sent Jesus. So, this month’s devotions are about the glory of it all: The amazing light of the world that brings peace on earth and goodwill toward men.

Start memorizing John 1:4-5. It’ll keep a light on in your heart – even as exams, shopping, too much family time and everything else December brings tries to darken it.

Burn to Memory is our special section focused on Scripture to memorize. Pin it, print it or make it your smartphone wallpaper. Why is memorizing Scripture so important? What’s in your heart comes out at the moments when it is needed. (And if what’s in there isn’t good, it’ll come out even when you don’t want it to!)
