Devo: You won’t bless the Lord by accident.

By Tiffany Deluccia

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
Psalm 34:1-3

At all times. I will bless the Lord at all times.

There’s a sense of determination in that sentence. If we’re honest, we know we don’t inevitably bless the Lord when dreams are shattered. We don’t accidentally bless the Lord when we’ve been deceived or mistreated. We don’t catch ourselves blessing the Lord when we’re not sure how to make the funds work out.

We will to.

Blessing the Lord at all times takes strength of heart and tremendous faith that He will be for us who He says He is. We are no exception to His promise to be with us. I am no forgotten child of the King. You will not be overcome by temptation, or evil, or trouble. Take heart.

And bless the Lord. May His praise be continually in our mouths.

If I’ve learned one thing in times of great change, it’s this: Whatever unknown I’m sliding towards, He remains constant. He doesn’t hide Himself from me, and if I’m feeling overwhelmed, I’ve clearly taken my eyes off the Truth that never shifts, bends or grows dim.

So, I bless the Lord, and I remember all the reasons why I trust Him. Then He speaks peace to my heart.
